Autumn Is Here!

I love autumn.
The sounds of football games - the whistles and cheers. The sound and smell of crunching leaves. Pine cones and acorns and apples and caramel.
Pumpkins - orange and white and bumpy and smooth; real and velvet and plastic blow mold. Mums and coral bells. Hot tea and slow jazz and pumpkin spice lattes.
Deepening and becoming richer as September passes through October on its way to November. The chill in the air - mornings where there's finally frost in the grass and you can see your breath. The leaves changing colors.
Labor Day kicking it all off as the pools close and school really gets under way through joyful, magical, spooky Halloween all the way on to Thanksgiving.

Speaking of Halloween, it's a month and a joy of its own. Hammer horror movies and Reese's bats and bags full of trick or treat candy. 20 foot skeletons, Grim Reapers and plastic headstones in yards, orange and purple and green fairy lights, and haunted houses.
Spooky imagery, dry ice, Spirit Halloween, fake blood and black nail polish. Rhiannon and Werewolves Of London and Frankenstein and The Time Warp and Season Of The Witch. Practical Magic and Sleepy Hollow and Witches Of Eastwick.
The thinning veil.
I'm beyond excited. Who can wait for the equinox?
There will be fall art and jewelry on these pages before too long; keep your eyes open for it. Subscribers to my newsletter will get first warning and first dibs.
