I look forward to January every year. I know many think I'm crazy; it's still winter, but all of the "fun" is gone. Well, after the frantic Christmas shopping, getting the decorations up, traveling around, making the dinner, cleaning up after the dinner, returning gifts, getting the decorations down, eating lots and lots of sugar, etc. is all over, finally, finally, it is January and I can take a breath.

There is no real stress over January (aside from financial cleanup after Christmas). January has its gray, white, and even blue color scheme (possibly the only time I like to see the color leeched out of things :D). The white ground and gray sky, the relative silence, the freezing air...

It is peace, it is calm, it is welcome asceticism after the excess of December. It is a meditative time. It is a pure cold glass of water and an apple after endless cups of hot sugary liquids and bowls of cookies and candies. I look forward to it every Christmas time.

This playlist is full of songs that have that calming winter vibe. Or songs that came out in the coldest month of the year that I will always associate with it. I listen to this playlist all through January every year - and at no other time. It doesn't get worn out that way, or start taking on other vibes. I look forward to hearing it every year, and I am sharing it with you.
